A standing wave is formed on a string fixed at both the ends. The individual waves i.e., incident wave and reflected wave are \(y_{1}(x, t)=a \sin (k x-\omega t)\) and \(y_{2}(x, t)=a \sin (k x+\omega t)\), respectively. The two waves have same wavelength ‘\(\lambda\)’.
The position of nodes is given as
The position of nodes is given as
- \(x=\frac{n \lambda}{2} ;\) n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ...
- \(x=\frac{(2 n+1) \lambda}{2} ;\)n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ...
- x = n; n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ...
- x = (2n + 1) ; n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ...
Answer
(A) x= n 2 ; n = 0, 1, 2, 3, ...
