Let OX and OY be two fixed lines inclined at a constant angle α. A variable line cuts OX at P and OY at Q. From P and Q perpendiculars PM and QN are drawn to OY and OX respectively.
The equation of MN must be- \(\frac{x}{a \cos \alpha}+\frac{y}{b \sin \alpha}=1\)
- \(\frac{x}{b \cos \alpha}+\frac{y}{a \cos \alpha}=1\)
- \(\frac{\mathrm{x}}{\mathrm{a} \sin \alpha}+\frac{\mathrm{y}}{\mathrm{~b} \sin \alpha}=1\)
- None of these
Answer
(B) x b + y a =1
