Three copper blocks of masses M1, M2 and M3 kg, respectively are brought into thermal contact till they reach equilibrium. Before contact, they were at temperatures T1, T2, T3 (T1 > T2 > T3). Assuming there is no heat loss to the surroundings, the equilibrium temperature T is :
(s is specific heat of copper)
(s is specific heat of copper)
- \(\mathrm{T}=\frac{\mathrm{T}_{1}+\mathrm{T}_{2}+\mathrm{T}_{3}}{3}\)
- \(\mathrm{T}=\frac{\mathrm{M}_{1} \mathrm{~T}_{1}+\mathrm{M}_{2} \mathrm{~T}_{2}+\mathrm{M}_{3} \mathrm{~T}_{3}}{\mathrm{M}_{1}+\mathrm{M}_{2}+\mathrm{M}_{3}}\)
- \(\mathrm{T}=\frac{\mathrm{M}_{1} \mathrm{~T}_{1}+\mathrm{M}_{2} \mathrm{~T}_{2}+\mathrm{M}_{3} \mathrm{~T}_{3}}{3\left(\mathrm{M}_{1}+\mathrm{M}_{2}+\mathrm{M}_{3}\right)}\)
- \(\mathrm{T}=\frac{\mathrm{M}_{1} \mathrm{~T}_{1} \mathrm{~s}+\mathrm{M}_{2} \mathrm{~T}_{2} \mathrm{~s}+\mathrm{M}_{3} \mathrm{~T}_{3} \mathrm{~s}}{\mathrm{M}_{1}+\mathrm{M}_{2}+\mathrm{M}_{3}}\)
Answer
(B) T = M _ 1 ~T _ 1 + M _ 2 ~T _ 2 + M _ 3 ~T _ 3 M _ 1 + M _ 2 + M _ 3
