Given below are two statements. One is labelled as Assertion and the other is labelled as Reason.

Assertion: The electronic configuration of nitrogen atom is represented as:

\[\begin{array}{l} \begin{array}{l|l|} 15 & 25 \\ 11 & 11 \\ \hline \end{array}\\ \text { not as } \end{array}\]

Reasoning: The configuration of ground state of an atom is the one which has the greatest multiplicity.

In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:

  1. If both Assertion & Reason are True & the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion.
  2. If both Assertion & Reason are True but Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.
  3. If Assertion is True but the Reason is False.
  4. If both Assertion & Reason are false.

Answer

(A) If both Assertion & Reason are True & the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion.
