What they do

A surgeon is a specialist physician who operates on patients to treat injuries, diseases and deformities — cutting, repairing and reconstructing tissues and organs. After an MBBS, surgeons complete an MS (Master of Surgery) in a chosen branch and often pursue super-speciality fellowship training. Surgical care spans from emergency trauma to planned elective procedures and cancer resections.
