What they do

Software engineers design, develop, test and maintain the programs and systems that power digital products — from backend APIs and databases to front-end interfaces and distributed infrastructure. They work in teams, follow software development life cycles, review each other's code and collaborate with product managers to ship reliable software at scale. It is the largest single category of knowledge-worker employment in India.

Education path

Class 11-12 with PCM, then B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science or BCA/B.Sc CS.
