Designs defences that keep systems and data safe.

What they do

Security engineers design and build the technical controls that keep systems, applications and data safe — authentication systems, encryption layers, secure-development pipelines (DevSecOps), firewall and WAF configurations, identity and access management (IAM) and security monitoring infrastructure. Unlike analysts who respond to threats, security engineers primarily build defences and integrate security into the engineering process from the start.
