What they do

Power engineers design, build and operate the systems that generate, transmit and distribute electricity — from thermal, hydro, nuclear and renewable plants to the transmission grids and substations that deliver power to homes and industries. They work on power systems planning, protection relays, high-voltage equipment, grid integration of renewables and energy storage. It is a core electrical engineering specialisation with a very large PSU employer base in India.
