Explores the fundamental laws of the universe through research.
What they do
Physicists investigate the fundamental laws governing matter, energy, space and time. They work across theory and experiment — from quantum mechanics and particle physics to condensed matter, optics, plasma and biophysics. Research physicists are employed in national laboratories, IITs and IISERs; applied physicists find roles in semiconductor design, medical imaging, defence and high-tech manufacturing.
Education path
PCM → B.Sc/Integrated MSc Physics, then PhD.
