Pharmacist — Allied Medicine
Expert on medicines — how they work, are made and dispensed.
What they do
A pharmacist dispenses prescribed medications, counsels patients on safe drug use, checks for drug interactions, and ensures the rational and safe use of medicines across hospital, retail and industrial settings. They are experts in pharmaceutical sciences — drug formulation, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. In India they hold a D.Pharm or B.Pharm degree and are registered with respective State Pharmacy Councils under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
Education path
PCB → B.Pharm (4 yrs), then optional M.Pharm.
