What they do

Nuclear engineers design, operate and maintain nuclear reactors and the systems that harness nuclear energy for electricity generation, research and medical applications. They work on reactor physics, radiation shielding, fuel cycle management, safety analysis and waste management. In India, the sector is dominated by the government through the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and its constituent organisations.

Education path

PCM → B.Tech Nuclear/Mechanical, often via BARC training.
