What they do

Naval architects and ocean engineers design, analyse and supervise the construction of ships, submarines, offshore platforms, docks and other marine structures. They ensure vessels are seaworthy, structurally sound, stable and efficient — balancing hull form hydrodynamics, structural integrity and powering requirements. Ocean engineers extend this to the design of wave energy converters, subsea pipelines and coastal structures.
