Nanotechnology — Engineering

Works with materials at the scale of atoms and molecules.

What they do

Nanotechnology engineers work at the nanoscale — manipulating materials, devices and systems at dimensions of 1–100 nanometres — to create products with novel properties. Applications span semiconductors, drug delivery, solar cells, water filtration membranes, composites and biosensors. The discipline sits at the intersection of physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering.

Education path

PCM → B.Tech/B.Sc Nanotechnology, then M.Tech/PhD.
