Meteorologist — Physical Science

Studies the weather and climate.

What they do

Meteorologists study the atmosphere — its composition, dynamics and the processes that produce weather and climate. They build and run numerical models, interpret data from satellites, radiosondes and radar networks, and issue forecasts and warnings. In India the role is anchored in IMD (India Meteorological Department) and IITM (Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology), though private weather services and aviation are growing employers.
