What they do

Marine biologists study ocean life — from microbes and plankton to fish, corals and marine mammals — and the physical and chemical environment that sustains them. They conduct field surveys, diving expeditions and lab analyses to understand biodiversity, ecosystem dynamics, pollution impacts and fishery stocks. Their findings guide conservation policy, fisheries management and blue-economy planning.
