What they do

Judges and judicial officers preside over courts, hear evidence and arguments from all parties, apply statutory and case law, and deliver reasoned judgments. In India they serve across the district judiciary (civil and criminal courts), High Courts and the Supreme Court. They are guardians of the rule of law and constitutional rights.
