What they do

Geologists study the Earth's materials, processes, history and structure. They map rock formations, investigate natural resources (minerals, oil, gas, groundwater), assess geological hazards such as earthquakes and landslides, and inform infrastructure, mining and environmental decisions. In India the role spans GSI surveys, mining companies, hydrocarbon exploration and disaster risk management.
