What they do

Film and video editors assemble raw footage — selecting the best takes, shaping the pacing, building dramatic arcs, and making invisible structural decisions that determine whether an audience stays engaged. They work closely with the director in an edit suite during post-production, sometimes for months, to turn hundreds of hours of footage into a coherent, emotionally resonant story.
