Studies how economies work to guide policy and business.
What they do
Economists study how individuals, firms and governments allocate scarce resources. They build models, analyse data and produce research to explain price movements, business cycles, market failures and policy impacts. In India, economists work in central and state governments, RBI, international organisations (World Bank, IMF, ADB), think tanks, research institutes and the private sector advising on competitive strategy and regulation.
Education path
Commerce/Humanities → BA/B.Sc Economics, then MA Economics.
