What they do
A doctor (MBBS graduate) is a licensed medical professional who examines patients, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes treatments and coordinates care across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. After completing a 5.5-year MBBS programme (including internship), they may practise as a general physician or pursue postgraduate specialisation through MD/MS programmes. Doctors are registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) in India.
Education path
Class 11-12 with PCB, then MBBS (5.5 yrs incl. internship), then optional MD/MS.
