What they do

A dentist diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions affecting teeth, gums, jaws and the oral cavity. They perform procedures ranging from routine cleanings, fillings and extractions to complex restorations, implants, orthodontic corrections and oral surgeries. Dentists in India hold a BDS degree and are registered with the Dental Council of India (DCI).

Education path

PCB → BDS (5 yrs), then optional MDS.
