What they do

Database administrators (DBAs) install, configure, secure and tune database systems — relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and increasingly NoSQL and cloud-managed databases. They ensure data is available, backed up, recoverable and performing optimally. They also govern access, enforce compliance requirements and support developers with query and schema design.
