What they do

Data analysts gather, clean and analyse datasets to answer business questions and surface patterns, trends and anomalies. They use SQL, Excel, Python or R to wrangle data, build statistical summaries and present findings in charts and reports. They are the generalist data practitioner — the person who turns a spreadsheet or database query into an insight that drives a decision.
