Diagnoses and treats mental-health conditions through therapy.
What they do
Clinical psychologists assess, diagnose and treat mental health disorders — including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia and personality disorders — using evidence-based psychological therapies such as CBT, DBT and psychodynamic approaches. In India, they work in hospitals, psychiatric units, rehabilitation centres, private practice and community mental health organisations, and often collaborate with psychiatrists in a multidisciplinary team.
Education path
BA/B.Sc Psychology → MA + M.Phil/PsyD Clinical Psychology (RCI).
