What they do

Civil servants in the IAS, IPS and allied services implement government policy, administer districts and departments, maintain law and order, and deliver public services at scale. An IAS officer may be a District Collector overseeing development programmes one year and a Joint Secretary shaping national policy the next. They are the backbone of India's executive machinery.

Education path

Any graduation in any stream, then the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
