Archaeologist — Social Sciences & Humanities

Uncovers the past through excavation and artefacts.

What they do

Archaeologists uncover and interpret the physical remains of past human societies — excavating sites, analysing artefacts, architecture and environmental evidence to reconstruct history. In India this means working with ASI on ancient temples, prehistoric sites and Buddhist heritage. Beyond excavation, modern archaeologists use remote sensing, GIS, 3-D scanning and dating techniques to build detailed pictures of the past.
