Aircraft Maintenance Engineer — Aviation
Keeps aircraft safe and airworthy.
What they do
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) inspect, service, repair and certify the airworthiness of aircraft and their components — engines, avionics, airframes, hydraulics and electrical systems. They are the last line of defence before a plane flies: in India, an AME licence from the DGCA legally authorises them to sign off a Certificate of Release to Service. No aircraft may be dispatched without this sign-off.
Education path
PCM → AME licence from a DGCA-approved institute (3-4 yrs).
Entrance exams
