What they do

Air traffic controllers (ATCs) manage the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of aircraft in controlled airspace and on the ground at airports. They issue clearances, instructions and information to pilots via radio, coordinate with adjacent control sectors, and use radar and communication systems to prevent collisions.
