Manage courses & catalogue (Site Admin)

Publish courses platform-wide and license them to schools — shared (live) or copy (editable), with seat limits and expiry.

What this page does

The platform course catalogue is where you publish courses centrally and allocate them to schools. Two distribution modes exist: Shared — one live course that schools enrol their students into, with central updates propagating to everyone; and Copy — each school imports its own editable snapshot. Shared courses can be Open (any school may use them) or Closed (you must allocate them to specific schools).

Courses appear as cards showing the title, category, published state, mode (Shared/Copy with scope), item count and the number of schools using them. Card actions are Allocate, Publish/Unpublish, Edit and Delete.

Common tasks

Choose the distribution mode — Shared (live, central updates) or Copy (editable snapshot per school).

For shared courses, set sharing scope to Open or Closed, and provide the source class id.

Fill in the course settings (name, summary, category, format, visibility, dates) and toggle Publish, then save. Unpublished courses stay hidden from schools.

Click Allocate on a course card.

Search and select the schools that should receive the course.

Optionally set a seat limit (leave blank for unlimited) and an expiry (none, a number of days, or a fixed date).

Save. Allocated schools can now import or enrol from their Catalogue.

Card actions

Create a catalogue course: pick Shared/Copy, set scope, source class id and course settings.

License the course to selected schools with optional seat limits and expiry.

Toggle whether the course is visible to schools. Drafts stay hidden.

Remove the catalogue course. Schools that already imported a Copy keep their copy.

Use Shared mode when you want a single source of truth that updates everywhere; use Copy when schools need to tailor the content themselves.
