Sections (School Admin)
Every class section in one place (e.g. Class 10 · A) — capacity, roll-number prefixes and section incharges. Sections belong to a Class and receive students from the Students page.
What this page does
A Section is a division of a Class — Class 10 · A, Class 10 · B (also called a division or batch). The Sections page is a directory of every section across your school, each showing its parent class, capacity (max strength versus current students), roll-number prefix and its incharge. Students are placed into a class and section from the Students page; sections then feed timetabling and reporting.
Search by section or class name and filter by class and academic year. The Strength column shows enrolled students against the section’s max strength; the Incharge column lists the assigned class teacher(s).
Common tasks
Click New section, choose the parent Class, and name the section (e.g. "A").
Optionally set the Max strength (capacity cap) and a Roll number prefix (e.g. "9A-"), then Create.
Click Incharge to appoint the section’s class teacher, with a start date and optional end date.
Filter by class or academic year to focus on one grade; the class filter is also pre-set when you arrive from a class’s section count.
Place students into a section from the Students page — the section then appears in timetables and reports.
A section that still has enrolled students or timetable lessons cannot be deleted — move or remove those first. The parent class cannot be changed after creation; delete and recreate the section if it is wrong.
Buttons, filters & columns
Opens the create modal — parent Class, Name, Max strength, Roll number prefix and Description.
Enrolled students shown against the section’s max strength (the capacity cap), e.g. "34 / 40".
A prefix applied to roll numbers for students in this section (e.g. "9A-").
Appoints the section’s Class Teacher, with a dated tenure. Reassigning closes the previous tenure and keeps it in history.
Search plus a class dropdown and an academic-year dropdown; the class filter is pre-set when opened from a class’s section count.
Removes the section — blocked while students or timetable lessons are attached.
