Employee leave (School Admin)
Leave types, requests and approvals with a full audit history. Approving a teacher’s leave marks attendance and flags timetable periods for a substitute (Daily Cover).
What this page does
The Employee leave page manages staff leave end to end: define your leave types (Casual Leave, Sick Leave and so on), raise a request on behalf of an employee, then approve or reject it — every action is kept in a full approval history. Requests are colour-coded by status (Requested / Approved / Rejected / Withdrawn) and can be filtered to a single state.
Approving a request writes the matching L / HD marks into Staff attendance and burns quota from the covering allocation. When the approved employee is a teacher, it also flags their scheduled timetable periods for a substitute — picked up as Daily Cover in the Time Table product. Moving a request back off Approved (Undo) reverses both.
Common tasks
Click Leave types to open the type editor, then add a type (e.g. "Casual Leave") or remove one you no longer use.
Click New request, pick the employee and leave type, set the From / To dates, tick Half day if needed, add a reason, then Create.
Filter the list with the All / Requested / Approved / Rejected pills to focus on what needs action.
On a Requested row, click Approve or Reject. Approving confirms attendance is marked, quota is updated, and — for teachers — how many timetable periods were flagged for a substitute.
Open the history icon on any request to see who acted and when; use Undo on an approved row to reverse the marks and quota.
Add a comment in the approval-history panel before your next action to leave a note for the audit trail — it is stored against the status change.
