Departments (School Admin)
Academic divisions within your school (e.g. Primary, Middle, High) — nestable, with members and a department lead who oversees its courses.
What this page does
The Departments page models the academic divisions of your school — Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle, High, Higher Secondary, and so on — and lets you nest them. Each department has a set of members and an optional lead (department head) who can see every course in their department. Departments also power the department filters on the Users and Courses pages.
Common tasks
Click New department, enter a name, optionally pick a parent department, and create it.
Click Manage to open the department drawer.
In the drawer, click Add members, search and select users, then Add them.
Use the Lead dropdown to appoint a department head from the current members.
Remove a member with the × button on their row.
Deleting a department removes it and any sub-departments. Members keep their accounts and course enrolments.
Buttons & controls
Opens the create modal (name + optional parent for nesting).
Opens the drawer to add / remove members and set the lead.
Searchable picker; existing members are disabled.
Dropdown to appoint a department head, who then sees every course in the department.
Hover-revealed. Removes the department and its sub-departments; members are kept.
