Course categories (School Admin)
Organise your courses into a nestable category tree; site-wide categories are shared from the platform and shown read-only.
What this page does
The Course categories page lets you group your courses into a nestable tree — for example Primary → Grade 5 → Mathematics. Each row shows the category name, optional ID number, a course count and badges for Site-wide (shared from the platform, read-only) and Hidden (not visible to students). You can create, edit and delete your own categories; site-wide categories can only be managed by a Super Admin.
Common tasks
- Click New category and enter a name; optionally choose a parent, an ID number and a description, and toggle Hidden.
- Click Create to add it to the tree.
- Hover a category you own and click the edit pencil to change its name, parent or visibility, then Save.
- Assign courses to a category from the Courses page filters or the course settings form.
Deleting a category moves its courses up to the parent and removes its sub-categories. Site-wide categories are read-only here — manage them in the Super Admin portal.
Buttons & controls
- New category
- Opens the create modal (name, parent, ID number, description, hidden toggle).
- Hover-revealed on editable rows — re-opens the modal pre-filled to update the category.
- Removes the category; its courses move to the parent and sub-categories are removed.
- Site-wide = shared from the platform (read-only); Hidden = not shown to students.
