Import Batches
Bulk-add questions to your bank from a spreadsheet, PDF, media or AI — each import lands as a tracked batch you review before it goes live in the library.
What this screen shows
The Import Batches tab is where you bring questions into your bank in bulk — from a spreadsheet, a PDF, media, or AI extraction — without leaving Paper Canva. Every import is grouped into a batch you can name, track and review before it publishes, so nothing lands in the live library until you have checked it. The page opens with a stats row and a searchable, paginated table of your batches.
Ways to import
Upload a spreadsheet of questions. A downloadable template keeps the columns right; the importer validates each row and, if any fail, hands back an error spreadsheet marking what to fix.
A guided wizard that extracts questions from a PDF (a question paper, plus an optional answer PDF) using OCR + AI, taxonomy-tagging them into a new batch.
Generate a batch of questions from source content / media rather than an existing question document.
Draft a fresh set of questions with AI to a spec, landing them as a batch for review.
AI Similar Questions from Rank Booster
When a student generates an AI similar question while practising in Rank Booster, it is auto-captured here as a draft import batch titled “AI Similar Questions — Rank Booster.” These batches are moderation-gated — the questions are never visible to students until a moderator approves the batch — with taxonomy inherited from the source question (board, grade, subject, chapter, topic) and duplicates skipped. Review and approve them exactly like any other import batch to add them to your library. Approvers can also jump straight to the right batch from the student’s “Questions you generated” panel in Rank Booster History / Analytics: each generated question shows a status badge (not added / pending / in library) and a Review queue deep-link that opens that batch directly (/question-imports/:batchId).
The stats row
How many import batches you have created.
Batches still being checked before they publish to the library.
Batches whose questions are live in the library.
The running total of questions added across all your batches.
Super admins also see a QC review count that surfaces questions the automated quality check flagged for a closer look.
Batch lifecycle & per-batch actions
A batch moves through Draft → Review → Approved (in Library). Filter the table by status and by source type (Excel, XML, Content, SME/AI), or search by title; the list is paginated because a bank can hold thousands of batches.
Opens the batch’s QC review so you can vet, edit or approve each extracted question before it joins the library.
Opens the batch detail page listing every question it contains.
Jumps to the Question Library filtered to this batch’s questions.
Give the batch a clearer title so it is easy to find later.
Removes a batch you no longer need.
Common tasks
Open the Import Batches tab and pick a source: Import Excel, Docs to questions (PDF), Media to questions or AI builder.
Complete the import — your questions land as a new batch in Draft / Review.
Open Review questions to vet and approve them; once approved, the batch shows as Approved (in Library).
Use View in library to confirm the questions are searchable, then pull them into a paper from the Question Library tab.
