OMR

Generate OMR bubble sheets from a paper or online exam, bulk-scan on any office scanner, and auto-score against the answer key with multi-version shuffling.

What it is

OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) is the high-volume MCQ channel with two ways to answer. A five-step builder turns an existing paper or online exam into a printable answer paper plus an alignment-marked OMR sheet you fully control (paper size, columns, bubble size/shape, header fields, booklet codes, sections). Each assigned student now gets a unique sheet with its own QR code — on scan the server decodes the QR and auto-routes the sheet to the right student, so there is no hand-filled roll-number bubbling grid to read (a pre-printed name and short code sit under the QR as the fallback). You print and hand out, students fill bubbles on paper, then you bulk-upload scans from any office scanner; the engine detects filled bubbles, maps them to the answer key and applies your marking scheme. Prefer no paper? Turn on the digital on-screen mode and the same exam becomes a tappable bubble grid students answer on any device, with autosave and an optional timer. Version shuffling still produces distinct sheets per version, each scored against its own key — and scanned and on-screen attempts land in the same scoring, analytics and gradebook.

Who it's for

Built for teachers, parents and org admins running large MCQ mocks (JEE/NEET/CAT style). OMR is purchase-gated and behind the CHANNEL.OMR feature flag.

Key capabilities

- Shared scope picker — set Board → Class → Subject and the chapters (or single topics) the OMR exam covers before the builder opens; the exam remembers that scope. - Source from a paper or online exam — reuse questions you already built. - Two answer modes — printed QR sheets and/or an on-screen digital player; pick either or both per exam. - Unique per-student QR — each sheet auto-routes to its student on scan; no roll-number bubbling grid, with a pre-printed name + short code as the fallback. - Digital on-screen mode — a tappable bubble grid beside the question paper, with autosave, an optional timer and strict / single / relaxed rules. - Marking presets (CBSE / NEET / JEE / CAT / Custom) plus negative marking. - Multi-version shuffling — 2/3/4 versions, shuffle questions and/or options, each with its own key. - Full sheet designer — paper size, columns, bubble size & shape, options per question, header fields, booklet/set codes, watermark, signatures, QR. - Sections with their own mark/negative scheme. - Bulk scan upload with a drag-drop queue, plus single-sheet upload. - Auto-detect & review — verify ambiguous reads before scores finalise. - Unified subject analytics — scanned and on-screen scores map onto the same chapters and topics.

Quick start

Open OMR Exams and click New scan. The New OMR Exam scope panel opens first — pick Board, Class, Subjects and the chapters this exam covers, then Continue into the five-step builder.

Step 1 set basics; Step 2 pick a source paper/online exam; Step 3 marking, versions and how students answer (printed QR sheet, on-screen, or both); Step 4 sheet layout; Step 5 review.

For printed delivery, open the exam’s action center, generate the Question Paper PDF and each student’s unique QR OMR sheet, then print and hand out.

Students fill their bubbles on paper — or, if you enabled on-screen answering, tap their answers in the digital player and submit.

Scan the paper sheets and Bulk upload (or single-upload); the QR auto-routes each scan to its student.

Evaluate All, Review ambiguous reads, then open Results for subject analytics — on-screen attempts are already scored and appear alongside the scans.
