Glossary
The cross-linked term library that powers inline note popovers — a three-pane browser with a scope tree, an A→Z filter, letter-grouped term cards and an editable definition pane. Restricted to content admins.
What this screen shows
The Glossary tab is the term library behind Smart Notes. Each entry is a concept defined once and cross-linked across every note. The screen is a three-pane browser: a left Browse Glossary scope tree with an All terms shortcut and an A→Z letter filter; a middle column of letter-grouped term cards; and a right definition pane that renders the full entry (with math, images and related-concept chips) and lets admins edit it in place. Students never open this tab — but they get its definitions as the inline popovers everywhere.
Access is gated by role — only superadmin, orgowner and orgadmin can open this tab, and the page enforces the same check on direct-URL access (redirecting others to Notes). Teachers and students cannot open it; they still get inline glossary popovers in notes.
Common tasks (admins)
Use All terms, the scope tree or the A→Z filter to narrow the list, or type in Search.
Click a term card to load its full definition in the right pane.
Click Edit to revise the definition in the rich-text editor, then Save (or Cancel).
Follow Related chips to jump between cross-linked concepts.
Saved terms immediately power the inline popovers students see in notes.
Controls on this screen
A debounced search box in the sticky header that filters terms by title/definition (server-side); an X clears it.
A sidebar shortcut that clears the scope to show every term.
A Board → Grade → Subject → Chapter → Topic tree; selecting a node scopes the term list, and a scope label bar with a "clear" link appears above the cards.
A 26-letter grid pinned in the sidebar; tap a letter to filter to terms starting with it (disabled letters have no terms), tap again or "Clear" to reset.
The middle column — term cards grouped under sticky letter headers, each showing the term name (with search highlight), a subject badge and a two-line short definition; selecting one opens the definition pane.
The right pane rendering the selected term’s full content (KaTeX math, images, nested glossary links) with a subject badge, falling back to the short definition.
Chip buttons under the definition that navigate to cross-linked terms.
Opens a rich-text editor on the full definition with Save / Cancel — content-admin only.
Edits here are global: a term defined once shows the same definition in every note popover across the platform, so keep entries concise and accurate.
