H5P Smart Studio
Turn a document, slide deck, recording, photo of a page or YouTube link into interactive H5P activities — quizzes, flashcards, interactive books, timelines, picture questions and more — then review each one and drop it into a course.
What it is
H5P Smart Studio starts from teaching material you already have — a chapter PDF, a Word handout, a PowerPoint deck, an EPUB, a photographed or scanned page, a recorded lecture, a web page, a YouTube link, or a chapter straight from the platform’s own notes library — and builds interactive activities your class can actually do. It reads the source once, pulls out the concepts, key terms and figures, and then generates as many activity types as you ask for from that single reading. The output is H5P: the open standard for interactive learning content. It plays inside your courses here and exports to SCORM for other systems — and you never have to author it by hand. H5P Smart Studio and Lesson Studio are different tools. - Lesson Studio — you author a lesson yourself, from scratch. - H5P Smart Studio — you bring material you already have, and it becomes interactive activities. Most teachers use both.
How a run works
Pick a working course. Everything you generate belongs to that course’s school and is reusable across its courses. The Studio remembers your last course, and picks it for you when you only manage one. Give it a source. Paste text, name a topic, upload a PDF/Word file, upload audio or video, point at a web page, or paste a YouTube link. Let it read. One analyze pass extracts the concepts, key terms and any figures in the document — diagrams are pulled out and captioned so they can be reused in the activities. Choose your activity types. Tick as many as you want; they generate together from the same reading, so a quiz and a glossary built in one run stay consistent with each other. Review every draft. Each one opens in the full H5P editor. Fix a question, replace a diagram, or regenerate a single activity without disturbing the others.
Use it. Add an activity to a course topic as a graded item — students do it in the LMS and the score reaches the gradebook. Everything is also kept in your H5P Library.
What it costs
Generating draws on your AI Units. Reviewing, editing, re-opening and reusing what you have already made are free. An AI Toolkit seat includes H5P Smart Studio, so if your school already has the toolkit you do not need to buy this separately.
