What it is
The Edukali Tutor is a conversational tutor students can ask for help on any problem — patient, step-by-step worked solutions and follow-up questions, not just the final answer. Every user gets a free self-serve trial (it runs on DeepSeek models with a small credit) so you can try it before you buy; a purchase then unlocks every AI model and full usage. It is self-hosted (your data stays yours) and metered in AI Units (AU): an Overview page shows your balance and budget, and tutor sessions auto-pause at zero so spend never runs away. Your chats and media follow you through a per-login cloud library that syncs to your account across devices. You launch a session into a full-screen tutor classroom, and can also open it pre-seeded with a specific topic from elsewhere in the app.
Who it's for
Teachers and parents assign it or buy seats; students chat with it. Anyone can start a free trial (DeepSeek only, capped by a trial credit and session limit) without buying first. Full access is purchase-gated (a base licence plus per-seat student seats) and behind the EDUKALIAITUTOR feature flag. If it is off for your tenant, you’ll see a banner asking an administrator to enable it.

Quick start
Open the Overview tab to confirm your AI Unit balance and budget.
Ensure the tutor is entitled and enabled (a banner tells you if not).
Click Launch tutor to open a session in the tutor classroom.
Ask a question or paste a problem; the tutor responds step by step.
Watch the AU strip; Top up if you’re running low.
