Resource — Link (URL)

Add a web link to a course topic that students open in a new browser tab.

What it is

A Link (URL) is the simplest resource: a single web address you place inside a course topic. It is study material, not a graded task — students click it to read or watch something hosted elsewhere (a reference site, a YouTube channel, a shared doc).

How to add it

Open the course and go to the Course content tab.

Inside the topic where you want it, click Add activity.

Pick Link (URL) from the resource list.

Give it a title and paste the link into the URL field.

Click Add to course — the link appears in the topic stream.

A URL resource is configured by pasting a link (configMode: url). Always include the full address with https://.

What students see

Students see the titled link in the topic. Clicking it opens the target in a new tab (openMode: external), leaving the course page intact behind it.

Completion

A URL is not graded. Completion tracking is a per-activity setting — manual by default (students tick it off once they have visited the link), or turn it off; either way it feeds the course progress bar.
