Activity — Glossary

A shared, searchable A–Z term bank whose entries auto-link across course pages and wikis.

What it is

A Glossary is a shared bank of terms and definitions for the course, shown as a searchable A–Z list. You author the terms, and — if you allow it — students can contribute their own. Approved terms are auto-linked wherever they appear in the course's Pages and Wiki, so students get the definition inline, in context.

How to add it

In Course content, click Add activity in a topic.

Title it and set Students can add terms on or off (configMode: glossary).

Student-submitted terms stay hidden until you approve them (each shows a "Pending approval" badge in your view). Only approved terms auto-link into course pages and wikis.

What students see

Students open the glossary in an in-app viewer (openMode: viewer), search or browse terms grouped by first letter, and read each definition. When contributions are enabled they can add a term (with a rich-text definition), which is held for your approval before others see it.

Completion

Not graded. Completion tracking is a per-activity setting — manual (the student marks it done) by default, or turn it off in the activity settings; either way it feeds the course progress bar.
