Activity — Forum
Threaded class discussions — students start topics and reply.
What it is
A Forum is a native threaded discussion board for the class. Students start topics and reply to each other — useful for Q&A, debate, or a place to ask for help on the course material.
How to add it
In Course content, click Add activity in a topic.
Title it and optionally add an intro message (configMode: text).
What students see
Students open the forum inside the course (openMode: viewer), read existing threads, start new ones and reply. In a locked thread the reply box is replaced by “This discussion is locked — replies are closed.”
Teacher moderation
Class teachers and org staff get moderation controls on every thread: Pin to top (pinned threads carry an amber pin and sort first), Lock replies / Unlock replies, and Delete discussion (removes the thread and all its posts, with a confirm). Moderators can also delete any post, not just their own.
Completion
Not graded. Completion tracking is a per-activity setting — the default here is manual (the student marks it done), and you can also turn tracking off in the activity settings. Whichever you pick feeds the course progress bar.
