Activity — Assignment
Students submit online text or files; you grade with feedback, rubric or annotated PDF.
What it is
An Assignment is a piece of work students submit and you grade. Submissions can be online text, uploaded files, or both. You grade each submission and return marks plus feedback — as a comment, a rubric, a marking guide, or an annotated PDF.
How to add it
In Course content, click Add activity in a topic.
Fill in the assignment settings form (configMode: assignment): instructions, allowed Submission types (Online text / File upload), and Grading options — Blind marking, Use marking workflow, Use marking allocation. Set the due date and turn on grading in the settings panel below.
What students see
Students open the assignment inside the course (openMode: viewer), read the instructions, and submit their text or files before the due date. After grading they see their mark and your feedback in the same view.
Grading & completion
An Assignment is gradable. Its grade reaches the gradebook via completion — once you mark a submission, the result flows through. Completion is manual by default.
